    rdfs:comment """ This is a great metaphor. Reviewing flashcards shouldn’t always be an “inbox” to clear. It can be more meditative, provocative, and nourishing. Definitely shows there’s lots of UX to experiment around “flashcard review”.

For those of us who’ve experienced their magic, we know this is a lifelong habit and I hope we get to experience some interesting evolutions in tools to support the practice!

Also, a nice reminder from an online mandarin learning course I’m taking: flashcards (and other memorization techniques like mnemonics) are a means to knowledge acquisition. They are but one tool in the internalization of new information.

You could also think of them as scaffolding. Scaffolding itself is a deep topic that comes up in both Dave Snowden’s naturalizing sense-making formalism as well as self determination theory (especially in the context of competence support)
